Climate Strikers Target Enbridge Acquisition of Vermont Gas

Activists in Vermont took the streets again yesterday to call attention to the climate crisis, as well as to protest the Public Service Board’s approval of the acquisition of Vermont Gas and Green Mountain Power by Canadian tarsands giant Enbridge. In May, Julie Macuga of 350.org Vermont told Vermont Public Radio “Enbridge is doing a lot of egregious things [such as] their history of destroying ecosystems and violating treaties. I don’t see that being in line with Green Mountain Power’s values and their commitment to 100 percent renewable energy.”

Tuesday’s actions in Burlington, which also included pre-dawn banner drops, come on the heels of Friday’s youth-led global climate strike. All images by Jim Mendell.
