Submissions and Contact

What we publish: Toward Freedom publishes journalism and analysis which offers a progressive perspective on world events. We publish four weekly articles that look at global politics, protest movements, human rights, government and corporate corruption, popular uprisings, and other pressing topics. We are particularly interested in publishing coverage and analysis that is not found in most media outlets.

We would love to publish your work: We welcome articles, interviews, book reviews, and op-eds from anyone, including seasoned journalists and first-time authors. Please look through our publication before submitting to familiarize yourself with our work, and to make sure your writing would be a good fit for TF. If you have any questions, please feel free to send us an email.

Send us a pitch: If you think your pitch or article would work well at TF, please contact us. Please send us a brief, one to two paragraph pitch for your article, along with a sample or two of your writing. Completed articles are also welcome as attachments and pasted into the email. All pitches and submissions are considered, and we will respond as soon as possible.

What we are looking for: We accept news and analysis pieces on a wide range of topics, from anti-mining activism in South Africa and indigenous struggles in the US, to labor movements in India and political developments in Argentina. We are particularly interested in investigative journalism. The more you include the voices and views of people most affected by the topic you are writing about, the better. Writers directly involved in the movement or issue you are writing about are welcome to contribute.

Length: We prefer articles to be between 1,000 and 1,500 words long.

Payment: We are able to pay for articles that are exclusive to TF.

Story ideas/tips: We always appreciate hearing any ideas from readers of stories or topics we should be covering.

Reprints: If you have come across or have written an article you think TF should republish, please send it along.

Media contacts: If you would like to get in touch with the TF editor or TF writers about their work for any reason, please write to us.
