Video Interview: Dan Berger on Political Prisoners in the United States

Dan Berger
This new interview with author/activist Dan Berger was conducted in the Winter of 2009. The interview is mostly based on Berger's essay "The Real Dragons: A Brief History of Political Militancy and Incarceration: 1960s to 2000s," which is featured in the book Let Freedom Ring: A Collection of Documents from the Movements to Free U.S. Political Prisoners (PM Press, 2008).

Israel’s Territorial Domination in the West Bank

Israeli settlement expansion in the occupied territories of Palestine is about more than constructing houses for Jewish settlers. Palestinian farmland is being turned into industrial space and illegal outposts on Palestinian land are protected by Israeli military. Roads, if Palestinians are allowed to drive on them, are often blocked without warning. In this video, Sam Mayfield tours Illegal settlements and outposts in the West Bank with Dror Etkes.

The Presidency Problem: High Crimes

If staging coups, waging secret wars, suspending civil liberties, or torturing people were merely aberrations pursued by a handful of zealots, Congress could simply punish the offenders and get back to "business as usual." Elizabeth Peterson: Peace and Social Justice Activist, 1920-2009

Elizabeth Peterson
Toward Freedom is saddened at the passing of our former board member and dear friend Elizabeth Peterson. She and her husband Dave Dellinger were devoted members of the Toward Freedom board during the 1990's, and made the long trek from Peachum, VT to Burlington in fair weather and foul to support our publication, and later, this website. We will remember her grace, and smile that emanated from a place within, above the terrors and hardships of this world. She 'crossed the river' peacefully on September 17, 2009. - Robin Lloyd, Toward Freedom Publisher
