Wisconsin: Activists Lock Themselves in State Capitol to Block Anti-Worker Legislation

As uprisings around the world take place against capitalist austerity measures and anti-worker policies, the people’s movement in Wisconsin struggles on.

In a response to Governor Scott Walker and his Republican allies outlawing collective bargaining in Wisconsin on Thursday, June 16, activists in Madison took direct action in the state capitol building, locking themselves down in an effort to block the anti-worker proceedings. The police made a total of 16 arrests; three people were arrested more than once. At play was the immediate legislative threat, as well as the meaning of democracy itself.
