In a speech last week, President Trump announced that the 17 year old war in Afghanistan will go on pretty much as it has. The war against Afghanistan is as much a war about race and white supremacy as was the Civil War. And the violence that we see in American streets is a direct and inevitable result of the violence of our county’s wars abroad.
On August 1, the Palestinian Bedouin village of Al-Araqeeb was destroyed for the 116th time. As soon as Israeli bulldozers finished their ugly deed and soldiers began evacuating the premises, the village resident immediately began rebuilding their homes. If the repeated destruction of the village is an indication of Israel's stubborn insistence to uproot Palestine's Bedouins, the rebuilding is indicative of the tenacity of the Bedouin community in Palestine.

Yemen is one of four countries, along with Southern Sudan, Nigeria, and Somalia, set to collectively lose 20 million people this year, one third the death toll of WWII, from conflict-driven famine. The US-backed bombing in Yemen is exacerbating the situation.
