More than 1,500 people gathered in Burlington on the evening of Monday, June 13th to hold a collective vigil for the 49 victims of the recent mass shooting at a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida. Organized on the fly by the Pride Center of Vermont, the vigil celebrated Burlington's LGBTQ community and condemned ongoing violent homophobia and transphobia in Vermont and across the nation.

While most people want to reduce nuclear and environmental threats, many also believe that neither climate change nor arms proliferation can be reversed through political channels alone.

No matter how one feels about it, the current state of anarchism has represented something of a mystery:  What was once a mass movement based mainly in working class immigrant communities is now an archipelago of subcultural scenes inhabited largely by disaffected young people from the white middle class. Andrew Cornell's Unruly Equality: U.S. Anarchism in the Twentieth Century supplies the first convincing account of that transition.

Around the world powerful and diverse possibilities are in struggle. One high priority for progress is activists developing, discussing, and settling on priorities around which to organize multi issue activism in coming months and years.

Anarchists have been tarred for a century as subversives, bomb-throwers, terrorists; deluded utopians at best. But no "ism" is more misunderstood, purposely distorted or entwined with America's traditions of self-government and free speech.

“We interrupt this regularly scheduled program ...” Remember those television interruptions? They were often “just a test” back in the 60s and 70s and now are more likely an interruption about a severe storm or other potential crisis. Black Lives Matter, is this, the interruption of the regularly scheduled program.
