UN Approves Historic Nuclear Weapons Ban: Now What?

More than seven decades after the deployment of deadly atomic bombs in Japan, the UN has passed a historic treaty banning nuclear weapons around the world. Though it has sparked hope for a future without nuclear weapons, uncertainty in the success of the treaty still lingers.

“Horrific” Increase in Worldwide Displacement: 30 Million Newly Displaced by Conflict and Disasters

Over 30 million people were newly internally displaced in 2016 by conflict and disasters. The Democratic Republic of the Congo surpassed Syria and Iraq in having the most new internally displaced persons in the world.
